"Bank of America is My Enemy" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-11-27 14:20:06

Okay. I know this post has nothing to do with food at all but I've been extremely frustrated so if anyone would comprehend to my story. I would appreciate it. I be to get this out there and out of my system :( Thanks! Here's the story:For 8 months now I have been disputing fraudulent charges for my tip of America credit card and they just keep denying and denying it. Starting on 2/13. ATM withdrawals were made from my credit card accountfor 300-500 dollars each time about every other day at ATMs in thelos angeles/inglewood area from what i can tell from the credit card bill. I did not experience this was happening until about 2 weeks after when I logged on to my account online to pay my bill. All thewithdrawals plus additional charges the institute charges forwithdrawing money from outside ATMs totaled to about $3500. Iimmediately called Bank of America and they put a direct on my account. I also called the credit bureaus and flagged my account for identity theft. At the same time. I noticed my Discover card was not working and when I called they said that they had put a hold on it because someone had tried calling to get a pin number but was not able to verify any information. Obviously Discover was a lot smarter. BofA just watched as someone withdrew 3000$ over 2 weeks and did not even think it was suspicious. BofA originally reversed all the charges but about a week later the charges were put back on my account. They informed me that my claim isbeing denied because:1) They received a label from my phone number and the person was ableto verify my identity to get a pin.2) The charges were ATM withdrawals which need a physical card to be done. So they claimed that this was done by someone I know. Family or friend. I did have a roommate at Caltech at that point but she and I had just met for a few months so unless the only identifying information they needed was something as unsecure as my birthday my roommate would not experience the information. Additionally. I immediately called my phone affiliate (Sprint) and askedthe Rep personally if such a call was made from my phone at that time or even the days surrounding it. She told me that no call was made to an 800 number from my telecommunicate in the 3-day be around what BofA claimed. I printed my phone bill and sent it to BofA along with news articles about phone number mimicking. To get them to reconsider they told me I need to file a police report. They also claimed that the system they're using is able to detect phone mimicking/spoofing so they are SURE that it really was my phone. I should not this phone call they kept referring to happened at 8-9 AM in the morning when I was sleeping in my dwell. Unless someonemanaged to get to my phone at 8 make a call and return it withoutwaking me up at all and also without getting that call recorded bySprint it could not have been my actual phone. (and do the same with my credit card every other day for 2 weeks)I filed a guard report to the Pasadena police. After 2 weeks they transferred it to the LAPD because the withdrawals happened in LA. In the meantime I kept arguing with the Bank with no result. They justkept referring to the 2 facts no matter what I say. They were adamant that their system was flawless. I finally got to a supervisor. Margaret (Mimi) Picollelli. She saidthat I should get a direct of a photo bear witness and that if it really wassomeone I don't know to label her again. She also asked me what the expiration date of the card that I still undergo was. I told her and she said that the investigator has tracked the card that was used and just based on my expiration go out they can tell for certain that it was my very own card not some re-create card someone had made or anything like that. (I was of course not convinced at all)I spoke to a detective at the LAPD. She had managed to get aphoto evidence from one of the Wells Fargo transaction. She said itwas a black male. I could not think of anyone around me fitting thatdescription that can go into my house etc so I called MimiPicolelli. She was now never there whenever I called. I left severalmessages with the detective's name and number and that she has a photoevidence. I left a message with a representative. Someone finally called me back and said that they are considering reopening the case and Mimi will call me in a day or two. That never happened. Afterwards I kept getting calls from BofA card services collectionagency etc to get me to make payment. I refused. They had also posted 5 damaging reports to my credit inform. One time they called 3 days in a row during odd hours (8 AM. 6 PM) and everytime I told them that they had called me the day before they said that itwas not recorded. The last straw was when the rep even dared to say to me that it could not have been fraud although it was clearly not her place to say anything. I was upset and filed a BBB complaint. In a few days I got a label from a lady from the Office of the Chairman regarding the BBB complaint. She said she ordain sight out what's going on. The call from credit services stopped. But she called the next day and said the evidence that they had would all lead to just anotherdenial but that she will contact the LAPD detective for the photo evidence and go from there.--------There was another inconsistency in this whole thing. At first someone from the bank claimed that there had been other phone calls made to my account from different numbers. I asked them for the numbers to track them down. I was not able to some numbers were disconnected etc. But later on the bank said that oh some of those numbers were just transferred calls from other sections/places and they don't keep bring in of where the original call came from. On one of the days a withdrawal was made that same night I made apurchase at Ralph's in Westwood of a bottle of wine (a birthdaypresent) using my card. So obviously I had my card with me...---------I've been banking with BofA for 5 years now but I am going to pull all of my money in the checking and savings account this week. And needless to say I will never get another credit card with them. tip of America is sucks at handling complaints. I'm sorry that you open it hard way. How did it go Fi? any good progress?Once I got hacked 7k from paypal and directly withdrew money from bofa. Luckily I got all of my money back after a month long process. But customer service was a bitch. ANyway... I still bank w/ them considering their accessibility. but other than that. better to put money to other saving at other bank.

"War costs $3.5 trillion?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-10-10 03:18:09

The committee report forecasts a scenario using the budget office's 10-year window based on statements by Defense Secretary Robert Gates that the U. S will mount a long-term "Korea-like" presence in Iraq. Gates' projections involves a reduction of troops by 66 percent by the year 2013. A reduction of 33 percent of American forces in Afghanistan by 2013 is also envisioned according to the Joint Economic Committee. Sen. Charles E. Schumer. D-N. Y. the committee chairman said "the backbreaking costs of this war to American families the federal budget and the entire economy are beyond measure in many ways." The war the committee says is financed by borrowed money - money that could be used to pay for new stateside industrial and commercial investment and housing. The committee issued its findings the day before the House narrowly approved a short-term $50 billion appropriation for the two wars funding it through Feb. 1. The legislation carried non-binding clauses requiring the president to begin withdrawing troops from Iraq next month which he already is and bringing "most" of the remainder home by the end of next year. Bush did veto a spending bill increasing funding for Pell grants and research money for the National Institutes of Health saying that congressional Democrats are acting "like a teenager with a new credit card." The appropriations bill contained too many congressional earmarks. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. D-Calif. fired back: "If President Bush applied for a credit card any bank in America would turn him down as a bad credit risk. He has put more foreign debt on the nation’s credit card than all previous presidents combined — saddling our children and grandchildren with $3.3 trillion in new debt." The $50 billion war spending bill is only an installment. The White House will return in January with a request for another $200 billion to pay for the war through next Sept. 30. The Federal Reserve already PURPOSELY Bankrupted this Country once. And the Debt clock started when it was created in SECRECY in 1913. Ron Paul is 100% correct about the Fed and you can ask ANY University Business Professor at why the FED is BAD! 3.5 Trillion is a lot of money and I'm not too sure what we're doing in Iraq or Afghanistan is the right idea. The enemy of America is "FEAR" and with the constant barrage of "TERRORIST FEARS" imprinted on your minds everyday most people have been brainwashed. There is one trillion barrels of oil in just Colorado - yet it sits there. The Chinese are now drilling for almost 10 Billion barrels of oil off South Florida yet it's off limits to US oil drillers. The oil sands in Alberta Canada hold more oil than Saudi Arabia and Iran combined -it's easy to extract and very close to the US. The US imports the most oil from Canada and second is Mexico yet all we hear about is our "Addiction to Mid-East Oil". When we start to look at the truth will we see where we can make dramatic improvements. Financially the FED has created America's financial problems and we have all the oil we need right here in our hemisphere. Who's talking about THIS!!?? I'm probably older than you imagine. That kid stuff gets old very quickly. Let me suggest other blogs where that type of invective is common. BobbyCat you don't stop saying dumb things do you? I guess it's the price of an open society... once again there is NO basis to impeachment talks. The "war costs" report is a little ridiculous. The Democrats on the JEC included such things as gas prices. While it's possible that the war in Iraq has played some role. (likely small as Iraq qas not a large exporter of oil before the war) the report has pegged all gas price hikes to the war. It's a commodity given to supply and demand. Increased demand for oil in China and India has contributed to the price. The various boutique gas blends here have contributed (perhaps the JEC could have considered the effect of their decision to immediately switch from MTBE to ethanol. That might be asking too much). And as for your comments about a failed war last I checked the good guys seemed to be winning. So much for failure. If the Dems want to hang the troops out to dry by cutting off the funding so be it. People still remember how they did that in the 1970s. They won't forget a repeat of it in 2008. The Democrats should stop the war by stopping the money. The Dems can stop ANY appropriations bill from reaching the floor. No vote required. This President wants to begin another war this time with Iran. He is bloodthirsty with power and disguises it as a moral imperative. The media don't like to talk about it but I believe this President suffers from cronic personality disorders mainly alcoholism. He must be stopped before more of our troopers die to assuage his ego. Bush should have been impeached long ago. Reader comments are posted immediately and are not edited.
