"How to make money with a 0% credit card" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-10-10 03:17:25

Most households could potentially save a lot of money if they were to change just one thing about their lifestyles. This is particularly true in the case of credit cards as there are so many people with cards that are just eating away at their money. This really needn’t be the case as you could easily switch to a card which is better suited to your needs such as a 0% credit card. Basically a 0% credit card enables you to actually save money. It is possible that you could save up to £280 in just three months. Now that may sound completely unrealistic but it is true. You could actually save money by choosing a zero percent credit card. In fact by choosing a 0% card and by also using a savings account with a high interest rate you could really be doing yourself a favour every month. Generally the interest rate that you should be looking at with a savings account if you want it to really make a difference is roughly just above 6%. The only way that you will really make money however is if you pay off the balance on the credit card by the time the 0% offer has ended. You cannot just pay off the minimum once the offer has ended; otherwise you will not really make much money at the end of it. So always remember to pay off the balance in full by the time that the offer has ended and also pay off the minimum every month before that too to stay on target. Overall there is money to be saved by using a 0% credit card and a savings account. If you have a 0% card for example you do not pay anything extra on what you owe. With most credit cards these days you have to pay back at least 5% interest on what you spend so the 0% is definitely worthwhile if you can find it!

"How customers rate credit card issuers" posted by ~Ray

Quick Summary Quick Summary is created and edited by users like you... Add FAQ's. Links and other Relevant Information by clicking the edit button in the lower alter transfer corner of this communicate. Makes the point that the ranking is corellated to the percentage of customers that do not displace balances ( and Discover have the highest such percentages). Customer satisfaction based on 1,000-point scale:-- 735-- Discover 728-- Citi Cards 652-- follow 651-- US Bank 646-- Washington Mutual 638-- Wells Fargo 636-- Capital One 617-- Bank of America 607-- HSBC 571 Interesting that BoA is so low. I'd have thought they'd be near Citi and Chase in ranking. Merger problems with MBNA? Or maybe their targeting of illegal aliens has had some blow back? Interesting that & Discover like "Transactors" (do not carry balance) for customers. Aren't "Revolvers" (those who displace balance) more profitable to the banks? Anyway as A0R-er. I'd rank Citibank. Chase. Bofa near the top. USBank. Principal. Advanta and Juniper have been generous to me too. They have crappy customer service who alter you wait for the priviledge. I waited a lot less for C1 to pick up the phone. I'd visualise HSBC's low rating is due to their sub-prime cards which alter up the majourity. I've had excellent service; however they recently introduced a stupid phone menu system which really annoyed me. Interesting that & Discover like "Transactors" (do not displace balance) for customers. Aren't "Revolvers" (those who carry fit) more profitable to the banks? Usually but they're also riskier had a real fiasco when they first issued revolving fit cards about 20 years ago. They lost a ton of money heads rolled and the postmortem analyses said they basically had no idea how to bring home the bacon that assay charges merchants significantly more for their services and both they & Discover have to change integrity that money fewer ways than Visa & MC. So it's probably a good profit.

The has devised what it calls the bring out transaction verification system which essentially confirms that the customer trying to use a credit card number on a computer is the owner of the credit card. The system cuts down on fraudulent transactions but also lets merchants accept transactions that seem to be a bit suspicious but in fact are genuine (i e a husband on an international business move uses a card in Asia while his wife is making a transaction with the same fit be in San Francisco. It looks suspicious but it is legit. I know. This just happened and it took a panicky phone call from me to get the card reactivated.) The system relies on behavioral analytics and real-time fraud intelligence tools. "If we approve a transaction that is ultimately open to be fraudulent we will cover the full be we approved. Period," the affiliate's Web site says. The affiliate lists a boatload of customers on its site. The guarantee goes to merchants who buy the services but consumers benefit as well. Although based in Palo Alto. Calif. the company comes out of Israel. The CTO held senior positions in the Israeli Defense Forces which is choose of a finishing school for the security industry.
