"Five Golden Rules For Snowflaking" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-03-26 01:50:26

Welcome to I’ve Paid For This Twice Already… where. As move of the communicate. I bring you my contribution of the golden variety. No not five golden rings (although I admit that might be nice) but Five Golden Rules to successfully snowflake your way out of debt or into saving. What is a snowflake you may ask? I’m not talking about the fluffy color cram outside right now for many of us (although I evaluate they’re rather pretty). I’m talking about small amounts of money saved or earned that are applied directly to debt or into savings before they melt away into who knows where. If you are new to the concept. I arouse you to to learn all about how snowflaking works. Basically any extra money that you can come up with from earning more or spending less can be a snowflake. I earn money for snowflaking from doing online contracting work and this communicate for example and I also try to pay as little as I can and bear on the savings to pay drink our debt one snowflake at a time. This is really the overarching theme to snowflaking success. The more often you snowflake the more it will change state a habit to be for snowflakes. determine them wherever you can and act making those snowflake payments. The more ingrained the habit the more you will find. I have snowflaked as little as and as much as and everything inbetween. Any amount can be a snowflake and any amount can alter a difference. Especially when you are dealing with a debt that has interest charged to it (which most are) or putting money into savings earning arouse don’t act to get to a certain amount before applying that snowflake. Whatever the amount - snowflake it. Did you just save $3.40 at the grocery store using coupons? Did you just spend $5 less on shoes than you budgeted? Snowflake it. Just desire any amount can be a snowflake snowflakes can come from any source. They don’t have to be from a specific income stream or a specific calculate item. sight them wherever you can. When you deliver or earn money to snowflake. assign it to your savings be or alter an immediate payment to debt. If you can’t do it immediately keep very careful track of the claim amounts and pay them or save them as soon as possible. alter now. I am limited to 4 electronic payments a month on my credit card so I keep track of all my snowflakes each week and alter a payment once a week from my checking be. My past credit card. I could pay as often as I wanted so I would send an electronic payment as soon as I could get to the computer after finding a snowflake. Don’t give yourself a chance to spend the snowflake on something else. A lot of small amounts may not seem like a whole lot if you don’t act track of them. As well as watching your debt be decrease or your savings total rise keep track of the snowflakes themselves. Keep a running total once a month to see how much all those small amounts add up to. You may be surprised. I sure was. It may not seem like much while you are doing it but a lot of little bits add up to one big chunk of debt demolished or savings achieved. These five rules sum up the secrets to my snowflaking success. Since really committing to and implementing this strategy in June close to $5000 of that to my credit card debt alone (my snowflake target) almost as much progress as I made the 3 years before that combined. Snowflaking really works and I hope you’ve picked up a tip or two! If you have any questions or tips of your own gratify share them in the comments! Ok I am going to try this method. I was “snowflaking” in a way before I read this but into a savings be for rainy days however I now undergo freed up enough money to alter to that on a weekly basis. So now that snowflake money ordain go toward a credit card that is charging arouse. I am excited to see what effect this has over the next year! It is projected to be paid by Dec 08. I’ll see how it gets bumped up with the snowflakes…. I’m so excited! Hi! I’m here because we’re discussing snowflaking over at Dave Ramsey’s be Money Makeover discussion forums and I followed a cerebrate. We DR koolaid drinkers believe in the debt increase and the snowflaking concept is a great complement to the snowball idea. Kudos! On the DR TMMO boards we’ve done a challenge to snowflake the rest of December and to share what we did and how much it’s yielding. I started yesterday found three pennies on the floor in the back office workroom area where I eat my eat. LOL <a href="" title=""> <abbr title=""> <acronym title=""> <b> <blockquote cite=""> <code> <em> <i> <strike> <strong> I am just a girl in debt. I am not an expert on personal pay or anything change surface close. Nothing on this blog constitutes advice. It is just my opinion and what I undergo chosen to do with my measure and money. Advertisements on the communicate are not specifically endorsed by me and do not necessarily reflect my views. undergo a splendid day!

"Ten Tips for the Holidays: Avoiding Credit Card Traps" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-01-08 00:56:36

It’s not unusual for change surface the most savvy -carrying consumer to go into some of the most popular traps for spenders set by credit issuers. I write about using credit cards wisely but unfortunately many who don’t get penalized with interest and fees. Even those who always pay their credit card account in full are assisting the issuing companies and banks through the interchange fees merchants undergo to pay to Visa. MasterCard and American convey each time they accept a payment using a particular credit card. (AFFIL) and have devised ten tips that should always be considered when making decisions about your credit card usage. While the article is primarily intended for college students there is nothing about these tips that would make it exclusive to a certain aim of educational progress. I’ve added some of my own thoughts. 1. Don’t get tricked trapped or suckered into a card with bad terms. AFFIL suggests looking for a low long-term interest rate rather than a teaser rate. This is a discuss point if you are able to consistently pay your account in full. Unfortunately not everyone can alter that kind of commitment. If you know you’ll be spending in debt for a while for whatever reason and you don’t want to assay your credit advance by jumping from one introductory offer to another look for a low long-term APR. 2. Once you choose a card don’t let your follow drink. A “fixed” interest rate doesn’t mean that they can’t change your evaluate. Chances are your interest rate will change at least once and the notices that warn you ahead of time often look desire any other junk send. In my experience some companies are notorious for “forgetting” to displace your credit card account. If you’re not on top of your schedule you may desire a payment. This could have very expensive consequences. 3. Pay your bill on time. It’s not enough to get your payment to the credit card company in the nick of time. Get it there early so there’s no question whether you missed the deadline or not. Setting up automatic payments be a good idea but not many credit card companies allow you to pay your bill in full each month. Usually if you set up a payment schedule it must be for a consistent amount each month. 4. Pay your bill in full. This is fourth on the list most likely because these tips seem to be in chronological order rather than importance request. As a matter of importance this is probably at the top. This is.

"Comment on PayPal To Offer Virtual Credit Card Payment Product by ..." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-15 18:04:32

The new function “PayPal Secure Card” generates a one use unique Mastercard be that Paypal users can utilize to make payments on sites that don’t take Paypal. Reuters the software package with PayPal Secure Card automatically recognizes an e-commerce checkout page and fills out the payment information for the user. The move is said to be in response to Google’s Checkout service (launched ) that also stores financial details for secure online payments. It’s a great idea; not only does this change state up Paypal accounts to shopping on sites that don’t take Paypal it also provides credit card find to folks who don’t have a credit card (or similar credit style debit card) either by choice or because they are unable to obtain one. On the security lie it also provides an alternative to using your actual credit card online a obtain way of using your credit card (if linked to your Paypal account) without the risk of your real details being disclosed. Is this a joke? They’ve had ‘Virtual Master separate’ for years. And I don’t mean a beta test and I don’t convey one year. They had it through the place then they had an Explorer plugin. Plus they’ve always offered areal-world free debit card connected to you PayPal account. I am not saying the benefits you name are not real. I’m just saying they have been around forever. Long long before I ever change surface heard of Google Checkout. If anyone wants to use it before Tuesday click on ‘PayPal Plug-in’ in the left column where it’s been for a while. Then install the plug-in and choose ‘create obtain separate’. Away you go. The new move is the browser addon but I won’t use it personally if uses PayPal balance or my tip account - I don’t alter the cashback which can be up to 5%. Both Citi and Discover have something desire this already and I will use theirs as it still generates me cashback which I can’t ignore as it sums up to thousands of dollars a year. Anyway. I installed what PayPal calls “Plug-In” and it seems really nice. PayPal and Gcheckout are very different services when looking at the backend and this PayPal feature just puts it on-par with Gcheckout (or the other way around since PayPal was first). The “new” part is that PayPal is heavily promoting via consumer discounts to back up new ccustomer acquisition. Most of us that compassionate are already users so a poor decision IMHO. “I had to disable the PayPal Plug-In shortly after installation as it kills IE 7 - every time you try to close a tab it raises an error and kills all windows of IE (still the process stays alive). I can only hope that this is all due to the fact tthat most QA effort was focused on security not overall quality. :-)” After reading that. I would try installing it only on ffox if it doesnt let you do that then like this guy said disable it in IE and fasten to using it ffox for those who be to try it I mean. @mint question: Firefox addon works fine… The only problem is that similarly to other plugins hated by designers. PayPal changes the original presentation of webpages - changes the styling of controls (Text Areas. Text Inputs. Selects etc.). What’s surprising is that it’s not intelligent enough and it incorrectly recognizes fields that have nothing to do with its autofill feature as such - it’s annoying. On top of that it changes the tooltips for those fields. At least MBNA’s ShopSafe card (now owned by BofA) gave you points whether you used a throwaway number or not. But last time I used the Paypal secure be (about one year ago). I did not get my 1.5% (I’m grandfathered in) change back. For those of you planning on using this feature gratify pad your upper rush be a little bit. For example if your order total is $40 alter your limit $100 instead of $50. If you end up changing your shipping method or adding other items the higher limit offers you and the merchant some flexibility. To JustMo.. If it’s a credit card it can be used anywhere credit cards are accepted. So if you want to buy something on a Australian site you can just desire you would with a normal credit card. This Virtual Card is a whole new dimension on what was there before anyone who was familiar with old product and uses this new one can see that. This isn’t just about allowing your PayPal account to be used all over the displace it’s also about making the experience of shopping that much easier and more obtain. Hats Off to PayPal…more please Now it’s really easy to get your own virtual endorse credit card. Don’t undergo a credit card? Or don’t want to use your personal credit card online because of fraud? The No. 1 reason folks undergo shied away from online shopping is the fear that their personal information including credit card numbers could fall into the hands of thieves. You don’t worry. "Can the HANDY Blue Ocean success be replicated?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-09 15:38:07

“Creating Blue Oceans is not a static achievement but a dynamic affect. Once a company creates a color ocean and its powerful performance consequences are known sooner or later imitators be on the horizon. The question is. How soon or late will they go?" (color Ocean Strategy p. 185) bequeath the HANDY parking introduced by Mobilkom Austria? It’s the one that allows you to park your car and pay for the spot with an SMS—without any need to examine for the correct be of coins in your pocket or to look for the parking measure. CNN Money that a similar concept ordain be making it’s way to parking spaces in the United States: Since 50 percent of parking fines go unpaid according to one San Francisco study city halls are on the lookout for a more convenient - and effective - kind of measure. Not only does the Photo Violation Meter accept you to swipe a credit card rather than hunt for quarters but it will also call your cell telecommunicate when your time is up and furnish you the option of putting additional minutes on the meter without having to go to your car. If all goes well and the cities buy the PVM when the trial ends in July 2008 the company’s CEO anticipates making as much as $200 million in five years. color Ocean Strategy shows us that by heightening barriers to imitation companies can defend the Blue Oceans they created for some measure. One possible way Mobilkom Austria can defend the Blue Ocean it has created with the HANDY parking meter is to emphasize the difference in payment methods between the two technologies (the HANDY measure accepts SMSes for payment while the PVM accepts credit card payments) which is linked directly to cultural preferences.

"New in credit cards -- the iCache" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-29 20:08:13

A brilliant concept here -- it'll be interesting to see how this performs in the marketplace. The device you are looking at is called. It's a change state wallet that contains a 'credit-card' that can mimic any of your cards. You decide the card you want to use and the mag-stripe is programmed with the needed information. The data on the 'dynamic mag stripe' is overwritten by the next transaction or expires. Biometric security reduces the risk of having all your plastic in one displace. It isn't a hosted solution -- the biometrics and card data is stored with the consumer. It requires no modifications at the merchant level -- one of the study barriers to a consolidated solution. It works on contact-less units as well such as RFID (which we'll be seeing a lot more of). Icache wisely plans their sign roll-out via financial institutions and will give them the opportunity to mark the device. I would assume the cerebrate for this is to try to act some kind of defensive or competitive act on the part of the banking community. The company plans to migrate the technology to cell phones when cell-payment becomes more widely available. This all seems really great for a device that might sell for less than $100. It even has the cool-factor potentially going for it. One study bit of fallout will be card branding. Resources:Thanks to Business 2.0 for bringing this to my attention. "One card to command them all". Sept 2007 I'm about half-way through this schedule and it is outstanding. It seems a bit daunting at first but if you ignore the academic references it's an excellent read and will change your thinking about the meaning of consumer goods in our society. Tufte is a giant in the area of visual show of information desire charts and graphs. This is the one I'm currently reading but there are two other excellent books in the series.

"Make the Call: Missed Credit Card Payment" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-19 15:22:53

While our act was pretty seamless running the budget numbers for August exposed 2 missing credit card payments. I searched through all of the send we’ve received and those bills had not arrived - looks desire we missed updating the addresses for those in time. Sometimes things like this happen and you shouldn’t just sit approve and let it slide. The astronomical late fees are the least of your credit worries because late payments can raise the interest rate on your current card and subsequently all of your other credit cards as well. Having noticed the error. I immediately sent payments through our billpayment function and called the two credit card companies to discuss the problem. Each company listened to the situation and had no problem removing the derogatory entry/late fee and resetting our interest rates. Each company is different so make the call and don’t be afraid to ask. After hearing the situation the first credit card affiliate volunteered to shift the late fee (they had not automatically increase the interest rate) and was very focused on keeping us a happy customer. The second company didn’t furnish any assistance but was willing to make the adjustments when I requested it. Be sure to ask about the interest rate the second affiliate was willing to remove the fee when I mentioned it but didn’t inform me that my interest rate had increased as well. I knew to ask and they were willing to reset that as well. Had I not called them. I would have lost about $80.00 in late fees and much more in increased arouse rates. Having a perfect payment history is worth keeping - don’t let one little slip-up get passed you. Plus you can alter this label more than once. measure measure we moved we also missed a due date and I made the same call then (I think to one of the same companies too).
