When I first became ill. I visited my adulterate who told me that I was not fit to work and signed me off. I called my boss and let them experience and sent in the sick say. I had been signed off work for one month. My employer was not happy with this and sent me to see the ‘Occupational Health’ doctors employed by the charity I work for.
I’m not sure if you experience how occupational health works but because they bring home the bacon for the employer they have a remit to basically get you back to bring home the bacon as soon as possible or to brush aside your illness so then the employer will not have to pay you or could change surface take you.
So. I visited the occupational health doctor and was told by him that I was very seriously ill and should not work for at least three months or until my symptoms weaken. The report was then sent to my employer. All well & good.
In the United Kingdom we have a system of benefits for those who can not work; move of the tax we pay funds this. If you undergo worked for your company for more than two years and fall ill then you receive beat pay for the first six months of being off bring home the bacon if you are unable to bring home the bacon after this you are placed on ‘Statuary Sick Pay’ (SSP). This is a calculate of your salary but you are then entitled to back up with paying your rent. As I mentioned this is funded with money you have already paid to the Government. SSP stops after a further six months but after this time you are entitled to other benefits to back up you survive.
I continued to visit my doctor and the hospital and sent in my sick notes from the doctor. Now. I have worked for this charity for seven years worked hard and to a high standard. So I was very surprised to sight that after being off bring home the bacon due to this illness for three months that my salary had been docked £300.00. I found this out by checking my bank balance at the cash-point. I called the Payroll department and was told that I was now on SSP. So I called the Personnel Department and was told that the policy had changed and that SSP now starts at three months. I asked why they had not informed me of this and was told “We have no obligation to inform you it’s in the policy and you should experience this!” I explained that I pay my days with my continue down the toilet that I am in pain most pf the time and had not been counting the days (having other things on my mind). I asked them to send me the earn and my payslips; the payslips had been sent to my workplace. I explained that I would need these things to claim benefit to help with my rent.
One week after I spoke with the Personnel Department. I received the letter letting me know about Statuary Sick Pay and how much I would acquire. After sending a lot of emails phone calls and letters to my boss my payslips arrived in the affix five weeks later. It took six weeks to get all the evidence the acquire office needed to start looking at my claim. I managed to submit my acquire claim last week. As I mentioned it can act up to six weeks for the affirm to be processed. Great!
Whilst the acquire claim is being processed. I am still expected to pay local taxes my rent and other bills. This should not have been a problem as benefit claims can be backdated. Unfortunately when I put in my affirm. I was told that the local Town Hall is strapped for cash and would not effect any payments. Oh. I thought why have I been paying all these taxes? Surely I have paid enough and surely the system is there for people like me who have worked all their lives and have not made a acquire claim before? Looks like I was do by.
To give you an idea how my income has been affected. I ordain give you basic information. My SSP payment is £350.00 per month my contract is £475.00 per month and the local tax is £85.00 per month. This means I have an instant shortfall of £210.00. This is not including my normal outgoings; water electricity and gas bills.
I called the charity I work for and requested that I bring home the bacon from home; since they had been calling me almost every day I thought that they would be sympathetic. They asked that I put in a proposal to give my request so I wrote a three page proposal emailed it to the charity and they turned me down saying that my job is ‘hands-on’.
I explained that my symptoms are socially unacceptable (with the retching throwing-up passing out and diarrhoea) but in no way prevents me create completing computer based work. That the majority of my job is computer based paperwork and given remote find to the charities servers. I could effectively bring home the bacon from home. It seems that the charity I work for is only charitable to their customers and the populate who work for them.
You can imagine how I now conclude about the charity I bring home the bacon for. Because they changed their policy because they didn’t let me know and took their own sweet time sending all the information I needed to make a benefit affirm. I am now in very serious financial problems. ascribe cards are now maxed out the bank won’t extend my overdraft and I have borrowed money from friends and family (all of whom want the money approve at some point). And because the local Town Hall will not approve date my benefit claim the dept falls squarely on my shoulders. All this because I became too ill to work.
To try and make ends meet. I have signed-up to various ‘bring home the bacon from Home’ schemes most of these are a con. I have signed-up to. I don’t know how many on-line analyse companies but they pay very little. I now have no choice but to return to bring home the bacon at the charity. The problem with this is that I ordain be spending most of the time at bring home the bacon in the toilet being violently ill. The charity could then claim that I am not fit to work and balance my assure making me unemployed and making it very difficult for me to sight other employment.
