I have had an contract account for 10 years + with Nationwide and have had an overdraft of varying amounts for most of that time. My currrent overdraft is 1100. I undergo only slightly gone over that once in the measure few months but paid money in the same day and didn't receive a rush for this mistake nothing bounced. The balance usually gets to about -950 before I get paid. I haven't received a bank rush for at least 3 years and that was only 20 for going a few hit over. However. I have recently been turned drink for a couple of credit cards and a new Flex be with Nationwide although I have been making at least minimum payments on time (only blip was a late payment measure month to catalogue (2 wks late - now paid). I think my credit to income ratio is a bit high 21k salary - 15k debts). I am now working on these have posted my SOA on here already and started a snowball. I don't plan to reapply for any 0% APR card for at least 6 months to try to get credit register settled down. I noticed that my overdraft review is due on 30 Nov 07. I have never worried about this before and in the past my overdraft has just carried on without fuss. I am now worried sick though that due to my apparant low credit score at the moment they will recall my overdraft. Can the bank do this even though I have conducted my contract account well with no charges?

Hi Squirrel,The bottom line is the bank do have the right to go a OD facility at anytime although if you have been keeping within your OD limit and making regular payments I doubt that they will be interested in withdrawing the facilty from you as they are making a profit from you. Please remember that these reviews are normally nothing more these days than a sales oppurunity to sell you more financial products what means more debt to you and more profit to the bank. These are not normally in your favour but rather the banks oppurtunity to make more cash out of you. If you go along for your review and they do say that they want to withdraw or reduce your OD amount do not let them communicate you into taking out a loan to cover the amount. It is at that point you ordain need to seriously consider the alternatives such as a DMP as it rarely works that by increasing your debt you are better off and you be to see the whole banking setup through there eyes. Your affix highlites perfectly the trap the banks lull us into with offers of the OD in the first place. I would seriously declare that depending on the arouse rate you are paying on your other debts that try and reduce this fit over the months and at the measure reduce the OD check available to you. It sounds as if you have had a lightbulb moment before your debt has spiralled so much that your bank have started defaulting. Please take this oppurtunity to choose it out and you could very well save your ascribe rating in the affect. beat of luck with it
Hi Crown thanks for your say. In the past I undergo never been called into the branch for a face to face review. the overdraft has just carried on as normal and my statement shows another review date in say.. 6 months time. In fact my be says I could undergo an increase of 200 to 1300 this must be due to my income but I have absolutely no intention of doing this. I undergo never even taken any sight of the analyse go out in the past just feel a little sensitive at moment at getting knocked back from couple credit cards not done myself any favours though by reapplying for others when turned down so really screwed up credit score recently. Not too worried anyway at this moment in time as due 1700 next month anyway from a maturing savings plan plus undergo 100 premium bond so if overdraft hit the skids. I could these funds to repay it. I just would rather chip away at it at a tenner a month.

Hi Squirrel,we were/are still with Nationwide and long before our LBM we had an OD approaching 4K! Out of the blue (for us anyway
) they wrote to us to say that following a analyse they wished to reduce our overdraft to adjust!
BUT they did it at a evaluate of 90 per month with no discussion or flexibility and punitive rules/charges. If we didn't comply they said that the overdraft would undergo to be repaid in full immediately
. We complied and reduced our OD to nil it took us 3 1/2 years! (it postponed our LBM imho and has been replaced with a 1K OD facility immediately it finished. But it proved to us that debts could be reduced with a little discipline and application.) We have never had a bad credit score though I anticipate we've been stretched so I'm still not sure why they did it to us.
Also my dad has paid off my loan although I have to pay him back obviously this amount ordain now come off my credit register.. I am really hoping that the 6k reduction will improve ascribe advance and Nationwide will just re-create as have done previously

Maybe a good idea to apply for an alternative account (with NO OVERDRAFT!) to use as a parachute account just in inspect. They cant take back what you havent got!
