"installing XP on an existing partition" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-17 22:01:22

accept to the Mac Forums forums. Please read the if you have questions to participate. I had Vista installed previously (using Bootcamp on Tiger if it matters) but I just formatted that divide to lay XP on it instead. Is there any way to express bootcamp to install on that divide? The one button idiotproof setup of the program is pretty frustrating. Or if not can I merge the 2 partitions approve together without losing the data on my Mac HD?I'm now on Leopard nowplease and thanks for help kick camp doesn't command the installs. It just makes a partition and burns you a plough with drivers for the most part. Just boot up the Windows XP install CD and install the partition that was Vista. "Help with blue screen error message" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-28 13:32:03

A freind suggested this place and I am new so here is my problem. I undergo an older Dell p4 and been running windows xp for a couple years. Last week I went to go away up and it starts fine but then I get dumped to a blue screen saying that windows detected a problem and shut down and then goes on with a desire suggestion and it gives the error communicate ***STOP: 0X00000093 (0X0007FAD8,0X00000001,0X00000000,0X00000000)I tried safemode, reboot from last known ,etc but nothing, comfort get the blue check and same message. I dont really known alot of how all this works and would like to get things working again to see if all my digital photos are still there. Thanks in go for any help. Jim. If you can't go away in Safe Mode you have a real problem -- that is usually only resolved by reinstallation of the OS or by being able to load the recovery console and try some tricks there. The first thing you might try is running chkdsk from the recovery console even though this is an unlikely fix for the problem. You may undergo some registry alter causing it. There is a backdoor way to use system restore from the recovery console -- but if you try it and it fails -- you are in worse cause than doing an OS reinstall (which will not result in loss of installed programs). Here's the drill for using the Recovery Console to access System regenerate:USING THE RECOVERY CONSOLE TO find SYSTEM RESTOREIf you do not have an XP CD download cmdcon cab from Elvandil's affix here: unfasten and burn the iso register to CD. With Nero or Roxio you should only need to "change state" the register and it ordain go away the burner's ISO burning program. DeepBurner can also be used to burn ISO files. I recommend the “portable” version:Once that is done you be to boot with either that or the XP installation CD to the Recovery Console. You may need to ensure that the CD drive is the first kick drive in the BIOS setup if it just boots to the same screen. Setup is accessed by looking for the key to press on the first data you see on the screen -- often F2Directions are given here:There are several things to note about this operation.1 > it is not a "instal" of Windows but a method of accessing System Restore.2 > all dominate lines are one lie with appropriate spacing -- the doc register does not always reflect this.3 > you must complete all 3 parts for it to be a proper regenerate.4 > in the first part of this enter you are given the dominate:copy C:\windows\repair\system C:\windows\system32\config\systemyou may get a "register not found" when running this command. If you do substitute this dominate instead:copy C:\windows\repair\system bak C:\windows\system32\config\system Advertisements do not imply our endorsement of that product or function. "HELP! Networked XP Question My Documents and Drive Sharing Questions" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-23 17:28:04

You're currently browsing the Windows NT / 2000 / XP / 2003 section within the Microsoft Windows category of DaniWeb a massive community of 222,628 software developers web developers. Internet marketers and tech gurus who are all enthusiastic about making contacts networking and learning from each other. In fact there are 2,191 IT professionals currently interacting right now! If you are in the IT industry or are just a technology enthusiast you might sight just what you're looking for in DaniWeb only takes a minute and lets you apply all of the interactive features of the site. Hi: First let me just say convey you to anyone who is willing to furnish help. I haven't worked on computers in quite a while and I am very rusty. My new boss would desire for me to change his computer communicate so that there is only one My Documents (networked) to save to on his computer. I looked at his computer and saw that his C drive is the shared drive. (has the hand symbol) he also has a backup external hard drive -- the Z control. He is telling me that the other computers on the network undergo been saving to the Z drive (not a logical drive again -- an external backup hard drive). Is there a way to merge all documents from both the local My Documents and the networked My Documents and make it into only one displace to deliver on his computer? Please help -- I experience that this is probably a simple simple task but I'm not seeing the answers. Also what am I missing with the mapping? The C drive on his computer is marked as the shared control so why are the other computers using the Z control as the communicate drive? hey accept to Daniweb! You're right theoretically this should be a very simple fix. But bequeath in the IT field things go as planned about 5% of the time. To get your documents in one displace:Open the external hard control and look at the files to verify all is there and come up. Minimize that and goto Start->My Documents and look at the files to verify all is there and come up also. Once you're confirmed the data you're working with you could simply highlight everything on the external control and drag it over to the My Documents folder things to lookout for:1. When prompted you'll move "Yes to All" to save all the duplicates BUT be careful because if you do any versions of the files on the external drive that are OLDER than the register to be overwritten on the local drive ordain save that file.2. Make sure you have enough space on the local computer to save all the data from the external drive. Be very careful with #1; alter sure you read it carefully If I didn't explain it well may you could ask and someone else could do a exceed job also dealing with your mapped drives. Look at the letter of a mapped control as nothing more than a label; a place holder. Since everyone has C as their primary drive it wouldn't make sense to alter C go to someone elses computer right? That's why when mapping other populate's drives to your computer you usually start at Z. Does that make sense?sorry if this isn't very detailed i'm on my way out let me experience if this didn't help at all lol It is practically impossible to inform good programming call to students that have had prior exposure to Basic; as potential programmers they are mentally mutilated beyond hope of regeneration.-Edsger Dijkstra Hi Duki: Thank you! I do understand the difference between a logical control and a physical drive. I am simply lacking confidence in my abilities since it's been so long. I really just need to be sure that what I "know" and what is change by reversal are in agreement. Thanks again!! :-) Sheila It is practically impossible to teach good programming style to students that undergo had prior exposure to Basic; as potential programmers they are mentally mutilated beyond wish of regeneration.-Edsger Dijkstra I am still unsure but more alter than I was if that makes sense. If the network drive is the Z control then shouldn't the backup control be a different drive? Once all of the documents from My Documents are in one sight.. a shared register. I anticipate the easiest thing to do to make sure that he saves all My Documents files to the correct place is to actually change the label of My Documents to My Documents Shared? Obviously as with all the files he's not going to be to lose a backup of important files but at this point he's not sure which My Documents register he's actually saving to and he's confused -- hence only wanting to undergo one My Documents period. I hope my rambling hasn't confused you. Thanks again. Sheila hm i'm a bit confused. express me if this is right. Your boss has a documents folder on the external hard control and everyone has a mapped control on their computer labeled (Z that points to that external drive. What drives show up on your impress's computer? It is practically impossible to teach good programming style to students that have had prior exposure to Basic; as potential programmers they are mentally mutilated beyond hope of regeneration.-Edsger Dijkstra Okay.

"VGN-N250E XP help" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-17 17:31:39

Im using a sony Vaio VGN-n250ECame with vista vista sucks and doesn't run on our business communicate. So I put XP on there. But. Sony doesn't furnish XP drivers for the machine at all so I be some help. The wierd thing is i've done this once before and got the lan wireless and audio working thats all I need. But I had to reformat and I can't find anything that works for the life of me. I know they use the same parts in different laptops i've tried other laptop models but I just get the error "This installation wasn't meant for your copy" blah blah blah. Last measure I bequeath going to a driver page where I could sight drivers based off my intel copy chipset number it wasn't intels place though (their drivers don't bring home the bacon either) Anyway the Chipset is "Mobile Intel(R) 945GM/GMS/940GML convey Chipsets or Intel(R) 945GT Express Chipset."Any help? I need Lan. Wireless and Audio. Whoever can help me. I say King of the Intertubes. Go to:It ordain show you compatible models but they are all models sold in asia. The drivers will work for US and UK models of the same series. The installers have Sony's model number draw built-in. As desire as your copy is starts with VGN-N2 or VGN-N3 most of the installers ordain work. I said MOST because I open some of the installers have a bug in them. Sony made a typo in the lay draw which looks for a "VGN-3" instead of a "VGN-N3". Another one looks for "VGN-N2&VGN-3" on on line which is a totally remove model so that one won't bring home the bacon on a VGN-N2 series either. I figured out how to get around all the copy checking and typos but too long to inform. I hope this leads you on the alter track. "Back to XP Help" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-10 18:36:16

So my girlfriend got a new laptop measure spring with Vista preinstalled thinking she was going to get a sweet new OS. Well by now she's just fed up with it and her computer going so decrease. It's takes her about 10 times longer to do any one thing on her computer than it does on exploit and my laptop is older with Win XP. She's just tired of Vista bogging her system drink. From what I understand you have to format and then buy and install a whole new version of XP if you be to go approve. I evaluate that's just bull ****. Does anyone experience if Windows is offering discounts on XP versions or anything for people that are pissed about Vista? Is there any other way to get her laptop to act normal and actually function without paying another $100-200? Unlikely that you'll get a discount on XP. Also be careful because some new laptops are built with hardware exclusively designed to run in Vista meaning you ordain have affect finding compatible drivers if you switch back to XP.
